UV fluorescence

Certain substances emit typical fluorescence (in the visible range) when stimulated with UV light (not visible to the human eye). The technique analyses the most superficial layers of the work, providing data on the state of conservation, the technique of execution and the chemical nature of the materials, mostly film-forming and organic materials.
